Pakistan Zindabad (Summary)

Part I:

On August 7, 1947 the aeroplane of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah landed at Maripur Airport Karachi. He was welcomed by a large crowd of people with slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad”.

From Airport Quaid-e-Azam drove to the city through the great sea of people from all walks of life. They were anxious to have a brief look of their dear leader and chanting slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ but Quaid kept quite and showed no feeling. Perhaps his thoughts were with that large majority of people who were being killed on the way to their new homeland. Quaid was the man of very strong feeling but he rarely showed his real feelings to people. On the Independence Day he went to the balcony of Government House and smiled for a few moments at the cheering crowd. At that moment people saw that how warm hearted their leader was.

Although the great leader was tired but he was satisfied with his performance Muslims of sub-continent were a small defeated group but due to his able leadership they got freedom and became the fifth largest nation in the world. In a speech at the eve of creation of Pakistan he told people that no matter what their creed, cast or religion was, they were equal citizens of state of Pakistan.

Part II:

In March, 1940 Muslim League the representative party of the Muslims of India decided in Lahore that sub-continent should be divided into two sovereign countries. Due to that demand of Independent Muslim state, Pakistan came into being and resolution was called Pakistan Resolution. The word Pakistan was invented by Choudhry Rahmat Ali in 1993, he was student of Cambridge. He took letters of word Pakistan from the names of Muslim territories, such as Punjab. Afghanistan, (North West Frontier Province), Turkistan, Afghanistan and Balochistan. Pakistan means the land of the pure and clean.

The Quaid-e-Azam took his idea to the people. He toured every part of sub-continent and addressed large gatherings. He also, laid the foundation of English Newspaper ‘Dawn’. In this way he won over the majority of people for creation of Pakistan. Though he was beloved leader of Muslims but a few people were against him they were with Hindus and British secretly one of them Rafiq Sabir attacked him with knife. But he survived. Although his health was not in good condition but he continued his struggle for the achievement of his goal.

Gandhi and Quaid-e-Azam met for three week of talks in last effort to reach an agreement for United Independent India but their talks failed. Jinnah told Gandhi that India must be partitioned into two nations. When after the Second World War even further discussions bore no fruit. Britain declared that she would give self government to India and quit the scene. In 1947 Lord Mount batten was sent as last Viceroy. He agreed for the partition of India and agreed to leave this county by August 15, 1947. Both congress and Muslim League agreed to the plan. The N.W.F.P, Balochistan, Sindh, the West Punjab and the East Bengal voted for Pakistan, which has the population of seventy millions. Forty million Muslims were left in India. At last Pakistan and India came into being as two separate states.

Pakistan’s first year was terrible, half a million Indian Muslims were either killed or imprisoned. Six and half million people left their homes and took refuge in Pakistan due to Indian atrocities. Quaid-e-Azam was shocked at these happenings. Despite this he extended the hand of friendship towards India with view that enemy of today may be friend of tomorrow.

Now Quaid-e-Azam’s age was over seventy, he was ill and tired. The last year of his life was made sad by the fate of Kashmir the ‘K’ of Pakistan. Against the wish and will of the people pf Kashmir Maharaja was taking them away from Pakistan.

The great leader was for weak to fight more, he flew back Karachi but there were no crowds to great him. That night he left his people and was buried in the heart of the city where he was born.
