The Voice of God (Explanation with Reference to Context)

I sought to hear the voice of God
And climbed the topmost steeple
But God declared: “Go down again,
I dwell among the people”.
Reference to context:
These lines have been taken from the poem “The Voice of God” written by Louis I. Newman.
In this poem poet tells that God is present everywhere. The best way to serve God is to serve human being.
Explanation:In these lines poet says that he wanted to make conversation with God. In this connection he went up the tower of church. When he reached at the top of the tower God asked him to go down, because he (God) lives among the people. The best way to find him is to serve humanity.
